How To Play Pot Limit Omaha Hi

Loose Omaha Tables

No U.S. Players

Pot Limit Omaha Hi poker is also known as Omaha Holdem or just Omaha. The only difference between Omaha Holdem and Texas Holdem is the number of cards you get dealt and the rule that you have to use two of your hole cards and three community cards to make the best hand. It is better to get dealt two aces than three aces because you can only use two cards and having that extra ace in your hand simply means you have 50% less of a chance to get three of a kind. If the community cards have four Clubs and you have the ace of Clubs but no other clubs you will not have a flush. You must always use two and only two of your hole cards. Lets take a look at how the game is played:

Step 1 - Each player is dealt four cards (Hole Cards).
Step 2 - A chance to bet.
Step 3 - Three community cards are dealt face up on the table (The Flop).
Step 4 - A chance to bet.
Step 5 - One more community card is dealt face up on the table (The Turn).
Step 6 - A chance to bet.
Step 7 - The final community card is dealt face up on the table (The River).
Step 8 - A last chance to bet.

The player with the best 5 card hand wins the pot.
Omaha High is generally a Pot Limit game but it can also be played fixed limit and no limit. Ninety percent of Omaha High played online is Pot Limit, also know as PLO and PL Omaha.

What does Pot Limit or PL mean? While playing at a pot limit table the maximum you can bet is the size of the pot. This is a very fun limit to play because you don't have people going all in when they hit a hand, some times if you have a alot of outs you can make a large pot size bet and hopefully steal the pot but if it was no limit you would probably fold. This limit creates a lot of action since players don't have to worry about other players going all in and putting them in a bad position.
