No one knows who invented Texas Holdem but we do know it originated in Robstown, Texas . Texas Holdem grew very popular in Texas and was soon every Texans favorite poker game. In 1967 a group of Texan poker players that include Doyle Brunson and Amarillo Slim introduced the game to Las Vegas. Texas Holdem continued to grow and is the most common poker game played online or offline. The World Series of Poker was a big factor in turning Texas Holdem into the world's favorite poker game.
When Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP in 2003 the poker world exploded. Chris Moneymaker was an average joe rookie Texas Holdem player that won a seat to the WSOP via a satellite tournament at an online card room. This coupled with WSOP coverage on TV brought Texas Holdem into the spot light.
