Absolute Poker Review: Big Bonuses & Great Omaha Hi/Lo Action
Absolute Poker is a Costa Rica-based site established in 2003 that continues to gain recognition in the online poker industry. It helps a lot that it accepts U.S. players and offers games like Texas Hold’em, Stud Poker and Omaha. More importantly, it offers some of the best bonuses, promotions and loyalty rewards programs around.
For example, Absolute Poker now offers a match-up deposit bonus of up to $500. Absolute Poker’s loyalty program, on the other hand, will let you win points (the so-called Absolute Rewards Points or ARP) for every hand you play using real money. The higher the stakes, the more ARP you earn. Loyalty points can be converted to cash (currently, 20 points equal $5).
Omaha Action at Absolute Poker
Absolute Poker offers both Hi and Hi/Lo variants of Omaha Poker. While the site’s traffic is passable (generally around 10,000 poker players during peak hours),there is decent traffic at the Omaha Hi/Lo tables.
Indeed, Omaha High-Low traffic is less than other sites but we rank them #1 for Omaha Hi/Lo due to the terrible players you can find there. The Omaha action is very loose so the average skilled omaha player can win a nice profit there. I recently played at Absolute Poker’s Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo tables and there was about 150 FL omaha Hi/Lo players, 100 PL Omaha Hi-Lo players and 200 PL Omaha Hi Players.
The tournaments had better showing. For instance, a Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tournament with a $10 buy-in was running with 158 players. A similar tournament with a $5 buy-in and where 141 players participated had just been completed. There was also a recently concluded Pot Limit Omaha Hi tournament with a $5 buy-in where 173 players competed. At that time, another pot Limit Omaha Hi tourney was also running with 164 registrants.
Omaha table stakes are also a bit on the low end (most Omaha Hi and Hi/Lo players join tables are between $.50/1.00 and $5.00/10.00), but there are some pretty lose FL Omaha Hi/Lo games at the $20.00/$40.00 tables as well.
Other Things Absolute
Apart from the nice traffic, Absolute Poker is a great site to play Omaha at. Aside from great bonuses and a first-rate loyalty program, Absolute poker has various deposit options including NETeller and Click2Pay (both of which cannot process casino deposits from U.S. bank accounts), Visa card, check, bank wire transfer, debit cards (for UK players), and MoneyBookers. Withdrawal is done in the same way you deposited your money, unless you used credit cards.
The gaming software is also easy to use and connection to the server almost never fails and the graphics and gaming environment are very good.
Absolute poker has the largest Bad Beat Jackpots in the history of online poker. The jackpot has gotten over $400,000 recently and usually gets hit a couple times a week. When someone hits the jackpot every player at the table gets a piece of the prize. Below is the amount of the current jackpot.
