#1 Play at the table with the highest flop percentage
All online poker rooms display statistics that tell you on average, how often each player will post the blind to see the flop. If a table has a high flop percentage the players are putting money into the pot without having hands that justify calling the blinds. This is the edge you are looking for to make a profit at the table. If a playing is calling the blind with 2-9 offsuit, it is only a matter of time before he loses his money. #2 Don't sit down until you have watched 10 hands
You might be thinking that this would be a waste of time but it is not. Observing at the table for a little while will give you vital information about your opponents that you would otherwise have to learn the hard way.
#3 Use the notes feature every chance you get.
While following step 2, you should be taking notes. You can build a database of weak, average and strong players. This can save you a lot of money in the long run and will even make you money over time. If you could choose between of a table with 5 very strong and experienced players or a table of 1 strong player and 4 weak players, which would you choose? Which one do you think you going to win money from? If you play at a small to medium size site this is a must do. Even if you play at the largest sites, you will still benefit from using the notes feature. Over time you will start to see the same players at the same blind levels.
#4 Track down the weak players
Most online poker sites have a “find a friend” feature, when you notice a very weak player you should add them to your friends list. Not all sites have a friend list so you can always just keep a list of weak players by your computer and search for them when you are ready to play. A typical weak player can be a goldmine if you play them on a regular basis. Most of them will not even remember you even if they have lost a considerable amount of money within a few playing sessions.
#5 Optimize your settings before you start playing
People will try and watch a movie and play online poker at the same time. Some people will sit down knowing they only have about 20 minutes to play and they either want to win big or lose big. If you are serious about earning a lot of money playing online poker you should set aside some time to play so there are no distractions.
